Mr. Americo Pinto is an internationally recognized thought leader in Project Management Offices (PMOs), with a career spanning over two decades. He has played a pivotal role in shaping the PMO discipline worldwide, influencing industry best practices, methodologies, and professional standards.

 

 As the founder of PMO Global Alliance (PMOGA), the world's largest PMO community, Americo led its growth into a global movement for PMO professionals, bringing PMOs to the center stage in recent years. In 2024, PMOGA was acquired by the Project Management Institute (PMI), becoming PMI’s official global community of PMOs. Since then, he has joined PMI’s senior leadership team as Managing Director of PMOGA at PMI, where he continues to drive the strategic development of PMO-focused initiatives, thought leadership, and excellence in PMOs.

 

 Americo's contributions include the recent release of the PMO Practice Guide, PMI’s first publication dedicated to the PMO topic, the globally recognized PMO Value Ringâ„¢ methodology, and the PMI-PMOCP (PMO Certified Professional), PMI's premier gold standard certification for PMO professionals.

 

 Americo led the development of the PMO Value Ringâ„¢ framework, an initiative that engaged hundreds of experienced PMO professionals worldwide to create an innovative, customer-centric framework designed to help organizations design, operate, and improve value-driven PMOs. He also conceived the PMO Global Awards, the world's largest and most prestigious PMO recognition program, which has since become PMI’s official PMO awards.

WORKSHOP 2: Harmonizing Expertise – Managing Multi-Discipline Projects and Teams

Challenge:
Managing projects involving multi-disciplinary teams often leads to communication breakdowns, conflicting priorities, and siloed efforts. Participants must create strategies to foster collaboration, alignment, and efficiency in diverse teams.

Format: Introduction (20 minutes):
Discuss the complexities of managing projects that span multiple disciplines, such as engineering, IT, finance, and operations. Share real-world examples of successful and challenging multi-disciplinary projects.

Group Activity (120 minutes):
1. Scenario Simulation:

  • Teams are presented with a project case study involving a cross-functional team (e.g., IT, construction, and environmental specialists).
  • The scenario includes challenges such as conflicting deliverables, differing technical languages, and a lack of shared understanding.
2. Problem-Solving Exercise:
  • Teams brainstorm solutions to improve communication, set common objectives, and integrate diverse technical inputs.
  • Participants identify tools and frameworks to manage cross-functional collaboration, such as RACI matrices, integrated project schedules, and stakeholder alignment meetings.
3. Solution Presentation (40 minutes):
