Dr. Hassan Albalawi is a highly driven innovator and entrepreneur with a strong background in electrical engineering. Born and raised in Tabuk, Hassan received his Bachelor, Master, and Ph.D. degrees from Carnegie Mellon University and Duke University. During his Ph.D. studies, he developed machine learning algorithms that could be used in ultra-low-power devices. This groundbreaking work inspired him to create an embedded wearable solution for use in safety helmets, leading to the founding of WakeCap in 2017.
WakeCap is a leading provider of digital automation services for the construction and industrial sectors. With its head office located in Riyadh and additional offices in three countries, the company employs over 70 engineers and developers who are committed to improving safety and productivity on construction sites. Using innovative technologies, WakeCap is able to track and manage project KPIs in real time, allowing clients to continuously monitor all major assets on site. This data is transformed into actionable insights that help reduce risk and liability, improve project performance, and increase operational efficiency. Additionally, WakeCap's solutions allow clients to identify and address potential safety issues in real time, ensuring a safer work environment for all.
Agile Construction at Scale: How Data, Standards, and Ecosystem Collaboration Deliver Megaprojects The construction industry is hungry to apply lean practices and principles to giga and megaprojects—but it’s not enough. At the scale of today’s capital programs, delivering on time, on budget, and safely requires more: real-time data, integrated systems, ecosystem-wide collaboration, and strong owner leadership. This transformation starts in Saudi Arabia, where WakeCap is working across more than $80B of the Kingdom’s most complex and ambitious projects—including mandates with Aramco and PIF. We combine the best of Silicon Valley software with Saudi Arabia’s scale and complexity to deliver true agile construction. Our work shows how innovation, integrated workflows, and rigorous standards can drive measurable results—reducing delays, improving safety, and enabling full transparency. We’re now applying these learnings to megaprojects in the U.S., UAE, Japan, and Brazil—helping global stakeholders reimagine project delivery. This is an ecosystem play—and we invite you to join us in setting the new global standards for construction.
