Portfolio Capital Project General Manager at Petrobras
Maiza Pimenta Goulart is currently the General Manager of Capital Project Portfolio Management at Petrobras, where she leads the team responsible for supporting the implementation of projects in the Upstream, Midstream, Downstream and Renewable segments. Since joining Petrobras in 2003, Maiza has held various leadership positions in the fields of Operations, Engineering, and Innovation. Maiza holds a degree in Naval Engineering and a Master's degree in Ocean Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Additionally, she has an Executive MBA and a second Master's degree in Administration from Fundação Dom Cabral. Her education is complemented by specialized management courses at renowned institutions such as the Kellogg School of Management in Chicago and INSEAD in Fontainebleau.
This work presents Petrobras' journey towards excellence in capital project management, focusing on the development of people and the implementation of effective processes. The presentation highlights the strategies adopted to develop team competencies and skills, combining best practices from PMI processes, IPMA competence baselines, and the Prince methodology. Additionally, it emphasizes the creation of processes that ensure business value delivery. Through practical examples and achieved results, Petrobras demonstrates how the combination of skilled people and well-structured processes can lead to success in complex projects.
